Human billboard paintings at north korea mass games

Historically developed alongside 19th century nationalist movements, 'mass games' or 'mass gymnastics' are group performance
events involving the synchronized motion of thousands of performers, often in which performers collectively create large images
in a human mosaic delineated by the colour of their dress or the holding up of coloured cards.

Maiko Takeda

Maiko Takeda grew up in Tokyo in a green and quiet area, a rarity for such an eclectic city. As life goes, it would be exactly these small oddities of the big picture that would dominate her work. It’s not merely about the contrast its about respecting each shape, each material, each stone to the detail and evince all its diversity. With her the devil truly lies in the details.
After having moved to London she still seems to be as immune to modern pop culture as ever but then again isn’t timelessness always the essential component, to an everlasting piece of art.
For her graduation project at central st martin's, japanese designer maiko takeda created the 'cinematography' collection. each metal accessory is covered in hand-drilled holes of various sizes that cast photograph-like shadows onto the wearers skin.

120 Seconds Of Future by Ilona Gaynor

120 Seconds Of Future from Ilona Gaynor on Vimeo.

It's easy to imagine a future where our closest experience to nature: parks, forests, gardens and general plant life, will become increasingly less accessible to the point of near extinction, due to excessive technological and industrial visions of progress. To 'experience' nature will become that of a rarity and therefor exclusive to the rich and powerful.

Nest Chair by Markus Johansson

Nest is made of a free form combination of round pegs "without any 'correct' angles, and is of course made entirely of wood." Johansson makes use of both old and new technologies in the construction as the pins are bent and then drilled in a CNC-machine to achieve an exact fit.
