Shiny mountains in Centquatre

Elise Morin (artist) and Clémence Eliard (architect) of SMALL MEDIUM LARGE -SML - design studio, in collaboration with the 104.fr have collected, sorted and hand-sewn 65,000 CDs and turned them into rolling hills of shiny aluminium that command the space of the Centquatre at the Halle d’Aubervilliers in Paris.

The natural light that reflects off the cd's makes the installation look huge. This big strange look like sea creatures becomes appealing and beautiful in contrast with the sharp geometrical surroundings. This is not the first time we see big pieces of abstract art made of smaller pieces of everyday life.

Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours (feat. Irfane) - HD

It was (directed) handmade by IRINA DAKEVA @ WIZZ
It is composed of approx 2000 images watercolor painted one after another (we say Aquarelle in french, way more sexy).

Great color combination in a black background.

Isolation Unit

Handmade party kit.

Well the wallpaper issue this month is very interesting! And the Isolation Unit designers are not convincing me that this disposable cup/dish kit is easy to think design and make!
Their concept was to to make a product that can be produced by hand by anyone and still have a perfect look. Each itam can be made by A4 sheet of foodgrade coated paper, a paper cutter, starch glue and latex, says Glaetti.
There is a second version, a DIY pre cut sheets with an adhesive at the joints that you dampen, fold and join.

Martha Schwindling

dressing table

I was browsing this months 'wallpaper' mag the handmade edition and I was impressed from this simple super functional and intelligent table from the young designer Martha Schwindling.

She used just wood and rubber. The circular mirror lined groove carved into the table,is angled to reflect the sitter's face and neck and is designed to have personal items stored behind it. The mechanism in it's frame makes the mirror stay constant when it moves.

Fruits by Hisakazu Shimizu

Product of nature, being expressed within the realm of ”pop culture”, a man-made construction, Shimizu set about producing these pieces with the same aggressive stance as his Japanese History series.
